Montgomery County's First Cat Lounge Is Coming to Kentlands
Searching for a cat café near Gaithersburg, Rockville or Germantown? Here is everything you need to know about CatLands Lounge, opening this December on Main Street in Kentlands.

Opening December 2026. CatLands Lounge is still under construction and is not open yet. We are anticipating our grand opening in early December 2026. Join the opening list to hear the date first.
If you have ever typed "cat café near me" from anywhere in Montgomery County, you know the results have meant a drive into DC, up to Howard County or over to Baltimore. That changes this December. CatLands Lounge is opening at 375 Main St in the Kentlands neighborhood of Gaithersburg, Maryland, and it is the county's first adoptable cat lounge.
What CatLands Lounge is
CatLands is a boutique cat lounge: a calm, beautifully designed room where rescue cats live, roam freely and wait for the right family to find them. Once we open, you will book a visit, settle in and spend time with the residents at their pace. There are no cages. Cats climb, nap, play and come to say hello when they feel like it.
Every cat you meet is available for adoption through our rescue partner, Homeward Trails Animal Rescue. Each visit will help pay for the cats' care, and every hour of gentle company helps them get ready for a home of their own.

Is it a cat café?
People search for "cat café" and we are happy to be found that way, but CatLands is a little different. In a traditional cat café the food and drink are a big part of the visit. At CatLands, the cats are the whole point. Think of it as a cozy boutique lounge where the residents happen to have four legs. We wrote more about that in Cat Café vs. Cat Lounge: What's the Difference?
Events, memberships and more
Beyond regular sessions, we are planning cat yoga, trivia and bingo nights, kids' programming and private bookings for birthdays and small celebrations. Keep an eye on our events page. Regulars can also join a weekday or weekend membership for unlimited visits on their membership days.
Be first through the door
We are aiming to open in early December 2026. Join the newsletter on our homepage to hear the opening date first. In the meantime, you can meet the residents who will be waiting for you.
